Satara Hill Half Marathon 2015 – attempting Guinness World Record
The Satara Hill Half Marathon is held annually in the historic city of Satara, the erstwhile capital of the Maratha Kingdom founded by the legendary Warrior king Shrimant Chhatrapati ShivajiRaje Bhonsale.
This year, the event is attempting to set a new record for the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the “Most people in a mountain run – single mountain”.
The current record for the same category is for 2122 people. SHHM is confident of setting a new record in this category, by a comfortable margin.
Expected participants are 5000+ in this scenic mountain run at the Western Ghat Sahyadri range in Maharashtra. The event is based at a beautiful location, the road that leads upto the Kaas Plateau. This place is famous for the hundreds of species of flowers that bloom in the months of August to October, creating a magical landscape unique to this region. It has been recently recognized as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Thousands of visitors flock to take in this beautiful sight in the monsoons and post monsoon season.
